Isn’t this a lovely image? It’s by Daniel Sroka, one of our wonderful artists. Today is Valentine’s Day – not everyone’s cup of tea. Some feel it’s modern commercialised nonsense, some feel under pressure to give or receive cards and gifts and some simply want no part of it. But, the association with love and matters of the heart, goes back a long way. Charles, Duke of Orléans wrote a Valentine to his wife in 1415, Ophelia mentions Valentine’s Day in Hamlet (1601) and the poem we all know for Valentine’s Day ‘Roses are Red…’ can be found in the collection of English nursery rhymes ‘Gammer Gurton’s Garland’, published in 1784 (here below).

Here at Beeseye, we love nature inspired images, we love nature and appreciate its importance to us all. Our images help people reconnect to nature, they evoke memories and revive our senses. Our artists all share a common purpose – to represent the truth and beauty found in nature. They are romantics in the truest sense of the word. I’ll leave you with that thought and hope that you celebrate love today in your own way – no pressure!

The rose is red, the violet’s blue,
The honey’s sweet, and so are you.
Thou art my love and I am thine;
I drew thee to my Valentine:
The lot was cast and then I drew,
And Fortune said it shou’d be you.

The beautiful thing about creating bespoke art is that the customer gets exactly what they want, custom made to suit them and the space. Custom made art is perfect for the interior of yachts. The art can be considered at the design stage and worked into the finished interior – or exterior.

We can print our images directly onto many substrates including printing on glass, Perspex acrylic and fabrics – as well as more traditional media such as printing on fine art paper and artists’ canvas. With UV cure inks and giclée and Lambda print methods, our archive quality fine art pieces can be installed inside or out and last a lifetime.

Art incorporated into the design of a yacht in this way not only significantly increase the enjoyment of the owners and their guests, but in a very competitive market an original artwork scheme that is made to fit the yacht will have a dramatic influence on the desirability of a yacht should the owner ever be persuaded to part with it.

In either event, we are ideally placed to assist clients who wish to enjoy life at sea – surrounded by art they love.

London has produced many of the twentieth century’s greatest photojournalists and fashion photographers – Terence Donovan, David Bailey, Don McCullin and Norman Parkinson among them. The first photographer to win the Turner Prize, Wolfgang Tillmans in 2000, was also a Londoner, albeit an adopted one. The capital’s thriving and ever-expanding art scene is home to galleries that show and sell photography in all its forms.

Fine Art or Not. Suit Yourself

There is a lot of kerfuffle about the term ‘fine art photography’. It is generally accepted to mean photography whose intention is purely aesthetic – the process of creating images rather than ‘taking pictures’. Conceptualizing an image from the moment of capture to the finished image to evoke emotion. The particular feelings do not themselves define the image as art. The artist might deem the image ‘fine art’ does the viewer need to agree?

“I don’t know anything about art, but I know what I like.”

There have always been people who present the artist’s creations for general viewing. Those who could tell everyone else what was fine art and what was not. Perhaps to be deemed a Fine Artist you need validation from those in the industry of Fine Art. To have your portfolio and images critiqued, reviewed by those who might be more qualified to validate your work. While you can’t learn to be a Fine Artist you can certainly hone your skills.

Enjoy art and forget the labels

What if the viewer isn’t trained in the aspects of aesthetics, design, or composition? Does it matter? There are many wonderful photographers with great skill and stunning vision, producing wonderful images. The Internet is certainly bringing us access to a whole new range of artists, some fine some not. Investors aside, I suggest that for most of us, it is more important to enjoy art and forget the labels. Have the courage of our own convictions and choose the images we want to live with.

Personally, I hope you like the images collected here, fall in love with them and get in touch!
